Equipment List:
- Pasco wave driver (D6.2)
- Pasco function generator (D6.1, D6.3) (there are two different versions) with two banana plug leads to connect to wave driver. (D3.H, D4.H) Leads are connected to the low output impedance receptacle.
- String of same thickness at every station (A6.H)
- Pulley on rod (A2.6) in small table clamp (A3.4)
- Threaded 24cm support rod for string screwed into the table (A2.5)
- Mass set (50 g, 100 g, 2-200 g) (A2.5)
- 50 gram mass hanger (A3.5)
- 2 meter stick (A1) with wooden supports (D6.3) and two sliding pointers (D6.2).
General Class Use:
- Electronic balance (2000 gram capacity, one per room)
- String sample for determining linear density (A6.H)
Notes and Tests:
- Place the pulley so it is about level with the knot tied at the other end.
- Make sure the wave driver is set so it is right next to the rod.
- Place one of the pointers past the support near the pulley. Place the other pointer between the two supports.
- Make sure when the mass holder hangs over the pulley with no extra weight the knot is not on the pulley, and when you add 400g to the mass holder it does not touch the floor (if only barely).
- Test the wave drivers.
