Physics 2305 Laboratory Equipment List
Lab 2: RTP 2 - Changing Motion

Transition notes:

  1. All of the equipment that is used in lab 1 will be used in Lab 2 except the 2-meter stick (A1). Nothing needs to be put away except the 2-meter stick..
  2. Make sure that everything is straightened, all the nuts on the track are tight, and the track is level.

Equipment List:

  1. Pasco 750 Lab interface with the following sensors:
    • Motion Detector (C1.1) with cord (C1.H) (plug yellowcord into DG1, plug black cord into DG2)
  2. Pasco 2.2 m track (T2) (elevation clamp on 45 cm rod (A1), small Universal clamp (C20.4) to table)
  3. Pasco collision cart (C2.1) with one Fan cart accessory (C2.3) attached.
(Note the difference between the Collision cart and the Dynamics cart.)

Notes and tests:

  1. Start the test file “2305_Lab2_RTP2_test1.ds”.   Move the cart in front of the motion detector and see if the program detects it accurately.
  2. Check all the fans to see that they work. They should have batteries that test to the 80% level or better.
  3. The track being level is particularly important with this lab, so make sure to level each track so the cart doesn't tend to roll in any direction when stationary.
  4. The track should be set up so that the measuring tape is toward the front of the table.   The track should be set back from the front of the table about half the width of the table.
  5. The elevation clamp should be on the left side of the table.
  6. No friction pads are used in this lab.
