Transition notes:
- All of the equipment from lab 5 is used in lab 6.
- Make sure that all parts are there and the tables are straightened.
- Wipe off each table.
Equipment List:
- Pasco 750 Lab interface with the following sensors:
- RMS (C3.1) pulley system on 90 cm rod (A1), clamped with large clamp (C20.4) (yellow DG1, black DG2)
- Force probe with hook mounted on Pasco Dynamic cart with friction pad (C1.2) (Analog A)
- Force probe with hook (C3.2) (Analog B)
- Pasco 2.2 m track (T2) (elevation clamp on 45 cm rod (A1), small Universal clamp (C20.4) to table)
- RMS pulley system: (See the set up notes for instructions on how to assemble this system.)
- Pasco RMS
- 90 cm rod (A1)
- Large universal clamp (C20.4)
- Smart pulley on 15 cm rod (C10.2)
- 2 Right angle clamps (C10.3)
- String with loops (approximately 2.5 meters long before the loops are tied in the ends, Izorline) (A1)
- Two pieces of string with loops in the ends (approximately 25 cm and 75 cm) (C3.H)
- Copper wire with loops in the ends (approximately 30 cm) (C5.H)
- Large rubber band (3 1/2 ” x 1/4”, #64 size) (TA1)
- Cart masses (C10.1)
- 2-full blocks (approximately 500 g)
- 2-half blocks (approximately 250 g)
- 2-brass posts to hold masses on cart. (A13)
- Mass set (C10.1) (1-10, 2-20, 2-50,1-100,2-200,1-500 gram)
- 50 gram weight holder (C10.2)
- 5 gram weight holder (C10.2)
- Electronic Balance (1000g capacity) (A3.3)
Notes and tests:
- Start the test file “2305_Lab06_RTP7_test1.ds” in the 2305 Lab Test files under Lab 6. Push and pull on both of the force probes and push the cart back and forth. Make sure the motion and forces register correctly on the graphs.
- The track and RMS pulley system are set up is exactly the same way as in Lab 3.
- Make sure all carts have friction pads.
