PHYS 5714, FALL 2007
Bernhard Riemann and Albert Einstein Welcome to the web page for the course "Methods of Theoretical Physics". This course deals with advanced mathematics and its application to problem-solving.
News: The next test will be *Sunday*, November 11, starting at 1 pm in Robeson 116 (the usual class meeting room). As a result, there will be no class on Monday November 12. The test will cover the material on homework sets 5-10. My office hours will be Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:30 - 2:30 pm. Much of the semester we will focus on linear algebra, complex variables, and Fourier analysis. If you are interested in placing out of this class, please contact me within the first week of classes. Not only is working on the homework in groups permitted, in fact it is encouraged. If you aren't already part of a study group, then I encourage you to join or form one. After all, one of the easiest and most efficient ways to get questions answered and get a deeper understanding of the material is to consult your peers. The final exam will be Wednesday December 12, from 7:45 - 9:45 am. See here for the final exam schedule.
