Complexity in Materials

Far from Equilibrium

                                             an International Symposium

May 14-16, 2008

Virginia Tech

The purpose of this interdisciplinary symposium is to bring together researchers with common interests in complex materials and in nonequilibrium statistical physics in order to discuss cooperative phenomena far from thermal equilibrium.

List of topics includes:

Statistical mechanics of jammed matter

Driven systems, e.g., colloids and vortex matter

Complexity in living and nonliving matter

The glass transition

Physical aging
