In mid February 2010, Professor Djordje Minic attended our Fiber Arts class to give an introductory lecture on the basics of string theory and quantum physics. He brought in several visual aids to help explain the concepts of space and time (i.e. balloon, sweater, silly string). After the lecture, students created small fiber installations in the classroom that illustrated some aspect of string theory they understood. From this lecture, our class created a list of physics “truths”--ideas that we developed from Minic’s lecture--to use as inspiration for the installations they would create in XYZ Gallery.
