The Awards Ceremony for 2006 was held on Friday, April 21. Nearly forty students were recognized for their achievements in scholarship and research.
The award recipients and their family members, faculty, staff, and benefactors attended the annual luncheon at the Hillcrest Dining Room. Once again, the festivities were held on a rainy day, but fortunately, there were no fire alarms.

After lunch, attendees were escorted to the Chem/Phys building, where faculty members presented awards to a record number of recipients. The guest speaker for this year was Dr. Leah Shaw Chock of the Naval Research Laboratory, an alumna of the class of 1998, who spoke of her days as an undergraduate in our department. She also used a simple double pendulum to demonstrate the concept of chaos, and then discussed how it related to her research on the behavior of epidemics among human populations.
The ceremony concluded with a reception in the Chem/Phys lobby, allowing students and guests to mingle with faculty and staff.
