Students that are upcoming sophomores that have demonstrated strong academic achievement or leadership skills.
2008: Charles James Baker
David and Ruth Henderson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in the spring of each year to students enrolled in or entering the areas of Geological Sciences, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry with a preference given to students in Geology. Applicants should be well-rounded, demonstrating a balance of academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities.

Leonard and Melva Harris Scholarship (established 2004)
This scholarship is awarded to students from Southwestern Virginia entering or enrolled in the College of Science and who are planning to pursue a degree in one of the sciences. The student must demonstrate high academic achievement.
