Virginia Tech Physics Undergraduate David Adams publishes in the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters

David Adams David Adams (BS Physics and Computer Science 2007) was not satisfied with just sitting in class. He was also very active - and very successful - as an undergraduate researcher, working with Bruce Vogelaar (Physics) on neutrino physics, with Leo Piilonen (Physics) on B meson physics, and with Alex Onufriev (Computer Science) on biological physics. His work with Beate Schmittmann and Royce Zia, on complex systems far from equilibrium, resulted in two publications so far, one in Physical Review E and the other in Physical Review Letters. The latter, entitled "Power Spectra of the Total Occupancy in the Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process," appeared in Physical Review Letters 99, 020601 (2007). Subsequently, it was also selected for the July 15, 2007 issue of the Virtual Journal of Biological Physics Research. The Virtual Journal, which is published by the American Physical Society and the American Institute of Physics in cooperation with numerous other societies and publishers, is an edited compilation of links to articles from participating publishers, covering a focused area of frontier research. It can be accessed at http://www.vjbio.org. David is now a graduate student at the University of Michigan.
