M63: Center of Mass - Earth/Moon model

 

Purpose: To show the ease with which you can find the center of gravity and show that it is the center of rotation.

Description:

 

A 54cm rod supports two spheres of different mass at its ends. The rod has two poles, one at its geometric center and one at the models center of mass. Mounted at one hole the system spins freely; at the other it does not. Includes rod with mounted spheres, wooden handle with pin and instructions.
