Beamline Design

When we change random number seeds, we are seeing changes in rates that are larger than what we expect from statistics. We are planning to find a weight function as a function of one of our thrown variables in order to preferentially generate low energy photons. The argon parameterization factor varies greatly for the low energy photons (see Figure 6).

We are primarily focussing on the two plug solution. If we find a workable two plug solution, we will probably just stop and not explore other scenarios.

Figure 6 - Plot showing piecewise linear argon attenuation parameterization.

The elements and their lengths and inner and outer radii are listed in Table 1 below. Maybe Greg or someone could double-check the aluminum beampipe thicknesses and lengths.

Drift Chamber Update

All of the cathode planes (5 total) for the next prototype chamber are now stretched!

A software upgrade to the PC board system is impeding the sense plane construction; we should begin soon.
