The LENS Experiment - Low Energy Neutrino Spectroscopy

The idea to detect low energy solar neutrinos via the capture on Indium has been investigated since the 1970s (original publication by R. S. Raghavan: pdf). Since then, tremendous progress has been achieved towards the realization of a working detector. For the first time, the LENS experiment which will measure the dominant pp-neutrino spectrum of the sun with high precision has become feasible. It will allow us to measure the sun's Neutrino Luminosity.
