Volker Braun, Worldsheet instantons and torsion curves
In this talk I will investigate the instanton numbers on a certain Calabi-Yau threefold with Z_3 x Z_3 fundamental group, related to a heterotic standard model. There are torsion curve classes, complicating the analysis. Nevertheless we manage to find the Gromov-Witten invariants in this context. As an interesting by-product, the Beasley-Witten cancellation of instanton contributions cannot happen here. Transparencies: pdf |
