String theory corrections to black hole entropy provide an intuitive setting for the study of detailed string theory questions. The talk describes explicit black hole solutions in five dimensions that take into account the gravitational Chern-Simons term and its supersymmetric completion. The construction confirms indirect arguments based on anomalies and it exposes shortcomings in the topological string theory description of black holes.
