The closest airport to Virginia Tech served by commercial airlines is Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA) in Roanoke, Virginia.
The Roanoke airport is about 40 minutes away from the Virginia Tech campus by car, and about an hour away by bus. The Smartway Bus service offers inexpensive rides between Blacksburg and the Roanoke airport, as well as free rides to the Inn at Virginia Tech if you make arrangements with the Inn in advance.
