Physics Force Add Request

PLEASE READ: 

Physics force-adds will be processed differently than in past semesters. Please read the entire page!!
The Physics Department force-add forms will open on November 21^st and close at NOON on January 26^th.

Force-adds will be processed beginning on December 1^st.

Spring 2026 Physics Force Add Request

A few notes regarding force-add:

• You are allowed one entry per course. If you upload multiple requests, only the first will be considered.
• Prerequisites are not waived on a case-by-case basis. If a course has a prerequisite, you must complete it before enrolling in the class.
  • Being registered at another university is not proof of a prerequisite.
  • A final grade from another university is proof of a prerequisite.
• If a class is listed as full on the timetable, it really is full, and force add is NOT an option. Force add is not an option for a restricted class. We don’t have a waitlist, so you should watch the timetable for openings. 
• Force-add requests are processed in the order they are received.
  • Please remember that VT has 30,000+ students. While a class section may be open when you complete the force-add request, it does not mean it will be open when the request is processed.
  • To ensure you are added, please list ALL open CRNs that work with your schedule, not only the convenient ones.
