Professor Rana Ashkar named a 2025 Sloan Research Fellow

Professor Rana Ashkar has been named as a 2025 Sloan Research Fellow.  The complete list of Sloan Research Fellows for this year is here, and a press release from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation is here.  Quoting from the press release: “Awarded annually since 1955, the fellowships honor exceptional researchers at US and Canadian educational institutions, whose creativity, innovation, and research accomplishments make them stand out as the next generation of leaders.”

Professor Ashkar is the second Sloan Fellow from our Physics Department, following James Condon who was a recipient in 1977.  She is the seventh Sloan Fellow overall in Virginia Tech history.
